Pia.az: Students unable to pay publicly humiliated at Azerbaijani schools

All schools in Azerbaijan switched to a “special regime” in connection with the March 8 celebrations.
Each student must give 50 manats ($60) for a gift to teachers, Pia.az reports quoting the parents of the students who said that money collection had started at schools on March 2.
“The amount of money to buy a present for teachers has been doubled this year. We earn 10-20 manats with difficulty to feed our family, but the headmaster is unwilling to understand it, and demands 50 manats. Those children who do not bring the money are called to the blackboard and reproached before the entire class.
They say that this student has no money and tell the children to give 1-2 manats for him. Naturally, the psychic state of the child who gets in a situation like this is just terrible and the consequences will show up later,” a parent of one of the students said.
